billets etc. MAJOR R. J. ANDREWS M.C. 2nd DEVON R.G.T. joined the
Bn as Second - in - Command vice MAJOR D. APPLEBY.

The Battalion moved into support at QUEENS CROSS
(Ref 57 c S.E. 1/20,000 Q28 d. 4. 3) in main line of resistance
relieving the 12th S.W.B.

The Battalion relieved the 12th S.W.B. in their Outpost
Lines and the dispositions of the Companies was as follows. "A"
Coy in the right, "B" in the centre, "D" on the left
& "C" COY in Support.

The Battalion moved to Fifteen FIFTEEN RAVINE preparatory
to the assault to made in the morning of the 24th inst.

Our Artillery commenced barrage on hostile trenches on high ground
at R.14.c.8.0 & R.14.b.2.8 (Ref MAP T.S. 52 1/20,000)
3. 45 a.m. (zero
minus 30 mins)
The Battalion was lined out in columns of platoons in following order "D"
Coy on right; "B" on left, A Coy in support of D and C in support
of "B" Coy. At 4.21 a.m. the barrage crept forward at rate of
100X in 4 minutes according to plan. At 4.45 pa.m. "A" Company
reported that they held road (R14.b.1.8 to R.14 a. 9.4.) with two
platoons helping "D" COY
