CALONNE   11/9/16 (11/08/16?)
'
C' Coy.  relieved 'D' Coy. in front line, the latter taking up billets vacated by 'C' Coy in BERTHELOT Street.  Other Coys.  unchanged.

' No man's'  land has been constantly patrolled by our men but no enemy patrols have been seen.  On one occasion a small reconnoitring patrol of 1 N.C.O. & 2 men did come across a large Bosch covering party but as our own men were busily engaged in wiring just opposite no hostile action was taken.  The  enemy has lately shown some disposition to work on his own wire, but as he never starts work until after our men are out there has not been much opportunity of doing him harm.

It was decided to try the effect of expanded metal sheets with a layer of sandbags on top as head cover against aerial darts and rifle grenades.

Casualties  -  2 O.R wounded.

     12/9/16 (12/08/18?)
The Dugouts on our left Coy. front are quite insufficient and unsuitable to house the company holding it.  Representations  have been made with a view to shoring up and rendering bomb prove the cellars off MORGAN trench.  These cellars together with those in the NEW SUPPORT line, especially if both groups were connected by a tunnel, would provide good and reasonably safe cover in the event of a heavy bombardment.

        Casualties  -  2 O.R wounded.

13/9/16 (13/08/16?)
The battalion was relieved by the 19th R.W.F. and proceeded to take up billets vacated by the 18th Bn. Welsh Regt in BULLY GRENAY.

Much has been done to improve the trenches in CALONNE right subsection during this tour of duty.  Trenches have been deepened, new work continued & completed, firebays  rebuilt & revetted, new wire put out & bombing posts made much more secure.
               Casualties -  3 O.R wounded.
