23.1.17 to 25.1.17

Battalion in Brigade Reserve in MAUREPAS RAVINE.

Casualties. Nil


Right Sub Sector RANCOURT Sector
25.1.17

On night 25/26 Battalion relieved the 19th Bn. Royal Welsh Fusiliers in right sub sector of RANCOURT Sector .

During night our Artillery fired steadily on enemys lines in ST PIERRE VAAST WOOD and continuous communication was maintained between the posts in front line and the Battalions on our right and left

Casualties:- Nil


26.1.17

Work carried on continuously on front line posts & improvement of support & reserve lines.

Support lines were shelled by hostile Artillery from 11.30 p.m. to midnight. Own Artillery also active.

Casualties :- Wounded O.R 2.


27.1.17

Battalion in front line until 8 p.m. when it was relieved by 2nd. Royal Berkshire Regiment.

On completion of relief Battalion marched via COMBLES to MAUREPAS CROSS ROADS. Lorries conveyed personnel thence to Camp 124 (West) which is between SAILLY LORRETTE and SAILLY LE SEC. On arrival in Camp men were given hot soup, hot tea and rum.

28.1.17 to 31.1.17

Battalion in Camp 124 (West). Time devoted to cleaning up, re-organisation generally and squad drill.

Major B. F. MURPHY (attached) evacuated sick to Hospital 30.1.17.
