CROISILLES (SECTOR)   JAN 16th

Bt in the Front Line Trenches. Hostile Artillery fairly quiet. Enemy Snipers were busy and fired at any target given them. White flares lights which when in the air burst into two white stars appeared to be a signal fired from his Front Line to his Artillery when any great movement our lines was seen. Movement was caused on top because the C.T.'s were full of mud. Condition of ground too bad for Patrol work.
A Working Party at work in BOW LANE were shelled and suffered 6 casualties 3 killed & 3 wounded (men were not of the Bn)

Bn in the Front Line Trenches. Hostile Artillery & M.G.'s fairly active and sniping whenever possible at movement over the top. The C.T.'s being impassable owing to mud from recent thaw after severe frosts & rain, over the top was the only meansof getting water and food from the rear Trenches to Front Line System.
In the evening, this Bn was relieved by the 18th Bn The Welsh Regt and went into Brigade Support at RAILWAY RESERVE.
