 On the night 10/11th July 1917, Sergt THOMAS, L/Cpl DAVIES and Private FURLONG were members of a patrol sent out to examine enemy's wire and defences. The patrol was attacked by four separate hostile parties and the officer in charge wounded. In the sharp fighting which ensued these men showed great gallantry and brought in the wounded officer.
