Right Subsector
11 July
Battalion in Front Line. On night of 11/12th
a raiding party consisting of 2 officers, LIEUT D.K. WALTERS and
2/LT. K.L.JONES and 44 O.R. - the whole under the command of a/CAPT.
F.T.WILIAMS. An attempt was made to blow gaps in hostile wire with
2 Bangalore torpedoes but the fuses failed to explode. The party then
endeavoured to cut gaps in wire with wire-cutters but it was found to
be too thick. No other gaps could be discovered & the party was forced
to withdraw about 3 am with ataining its object.

Battalion in Front Line. Patrols sent out at night from both coy.
fronts to keep no man's Land clear of the enemy & reconnoitre hostile
defences.

13 July
Battalion in Front Line. The Battalion was relived on night 13/14th
by the 18th Welsh who suffered some caualties from hostile shelling
during relief. On completion of the relief the Battalion took over the
billets vacated by the 12th S.W.B. and the disposition of the COmpanies
was foolws:-
