Batt in Front Line - An officer's patrol was sent out ^|from each front line company| at dusk (9.45 pm) and remained out until daybreak (3.15 am) with the object of keeping touch with the enemy and in order to prevent him from working on his wire.

Batt. in Front Line - An officer's patrol was again sent out from each front line company at dusk - (9.45 pm) and remained out until dawn (3.15 am) to reconoitre ground and enemy's wire.

Batt in Front Line - A raid was carried out with artillery cooperation at the night 21st/22nd with object of clearing up the situation at SONNET FARM and obtain identifications

The raiding party consisted of 2 officers and 30 O.R. under the direction of LIEUT. TREVOR - JONES. The party was lined up about 100 yds N. of the CAMBRAI RD. and about 20 yds from enemy wire at 1.55 am (22nd) with SERJT. OWEN and 9O.R. immediately behind to act as a "mopping-up" party. The assaulting troops were divided into 3 groups. The right group under Lieut. F.S.Higson were to clear trench S. of SONNET FARM, the centre group, under 2/LT. A. J. ELMITT were to deal with the FARM and the left group under SErgT. REES [As written - GGD] were to work round the FARM. The barrage fell at ZERO - 2 a.m. on the trench N. of the CAMBRAI Rd. about R. 22. c. 1. 8 - about 50 yds in advance of the party & consisted of H.E. but at 2.5 am it
