Nov.27th.1917.

The G.O.C. 119th Infantry Brigade wishes to congratulate all ranks of the Brigade on the results of their efforts in action on 23rd, 24th & 25th November 1917.

The valour and endurance displayed was beyond all praise.

A most important tactical position in BOURLON WOOD was assaulted and taken on 23rd and held against countless counter attacks and ceaseless pressure till handed over, consolidated and intact, to 186th Infantry Brigade on the night of 25/26th November.

The flanks were kept secure despite abnormal difficulties.

The enemy attacked up to the last moment of relief.

The difficult duties of maintenance of communications and supply of S.A.A. and rations were carried out by all concerned in a very efficient manner despite very heavy shelling; and reflect great credit on 119th Infantry Brigade Signal Section, Battalion Signallers and runners, and Brigade and Battalion Transport Officers and personnel.

The evacuation and tending of wounded was carried out under most trying circumstances, by all concerned, in the most self sacrificing manner.

Over 500 prisoners were taken by the Brigade from 214th and 3rd Guard Divisions; which in itself is proof of the strength of the enemy facing the Brigade, and the importance he attached to his lost positions.

These results could not have been achieved had not all done their utmost for the common cause - beating the Bosche.
