The Commander- in-Chief personally informed the Divisional Commander that he wished all ranks of the 40th Division to be congratulated on his behalf, on their recent success.

        Great credit is due, not only to Infantry Brigades who gave proof of fine fighting qualities and endurance, but also to the loyal co-operation and unstinting energy shown by Royal Artillery (Including the Divisional Ammunition Column), the Royal Engineers, 12(S) Battalion Yorkshire Regiment (Pioneers) the 40th Divisional Train, the Field Ambulances and the Army Ordinance Corps
