With Reference to 17th Welsh Order No.  52 dated October 22nd 1917
1 The Battalion will parade on the Battalion Parade Ground at 9.15 a.m. tomorrow the 23rd. inst.
2 Officers will wear Kit similar to that worn by the men. No Sticks are to be carried by officers.
3 The barrage will be represented by 2 N.C.Os and 6 men with 6 green and white flags.
4 Pill Boxes will be denoted by the waving of red flags,Lewis Gun Strong Points by the waving of blue signal flags, and a Light Machine Gun and rifle garrisons by the waving of white Signal flags with blue stripes.
5 The signal for opening fire will be given by a bugle sounding a "G" except in the actual lines B-B, C-C, D-D.
6 (a) 1 Bugler and 1 man per company will report at 9.30 a.m. on the 19th R.W.F. parade ground on October 23rd. to the Brigade Intelligence Officer.The above party will report to the R.S.M. at Battalion Headquarters at 8.45. a.m. tomorrow October 23rd.
(b) 2 men per company will report to Major Gough M.C. as orderlies on the Battalion Parade Ground at 9.15 a.m. tomorrow October 23rd. The above under headings (a) and (b) will wear caps. They will not carry rifles or packs.
7 Three Very Lights will be fired for S.O.S. signal
8 The 12th S.W.B. and 18th Welsh will wear white arm bands.
9 The Transport Officer will arrange for 6 pack animals to be on parade. 2 for Bn H.Q. and 1 per company.
10 O.Cs. Companies will bear in mind the importance of previously arranging for all eventualities which may arise.
E.g.necessity of throwing out a defensive flank.
Importance of quickly exploiting success, rapid
consolidation of positions gained etc. the possibility
of counter attack.
11  No Verbal messages are to be accepted. Messages sent out will invariably be put in envelopes.
12 4 Lewis Guns will be kept at Bn. H.Qrs. the remainder to go with their platoons under arrangement made by O.Cs. Companies            
13 O.C. Snipers will arrange to organise his men. At the     outset the Snipers will remain and be under the orders of Bn. H.Qrs.
14 2/Lt. C.S. Thomas will report to the adjutant on parade at 9.12 a.m. to-morrow October 23rd He will be Officer in charge of dumps
15 O.Cs Companies will ensure that they are in possession of their complement of wire cutters, and men carrying these should if possible have some distinctive mark.
