14 O.Rs. made a reconnaisance of the enemy's wire between R

operation

Battalion in Front Line. Inter - Battalion relief "D" Coy
relieved "A" Coy in right front Subsector & "B"
Coy relieved "C" Coy in left subsector. Right Coy patrolled
NO MANS LAND as usual. The left Coy sent out a fighting patrol
consisting of 2 ofrs Lt J.C.ENSOR & 2/Lt F.S.LEWIS with
a view to effecting an entry into the enemy trenches at a point between
R 15. a. 5. 8 & R.9. C. 0. 1
to obtain an identification. A bangalore party of 7 O.Rs accompanied
our patrol with the object of blowing a gap in the
