My dear Dick,

How I feel for you all, Dick, in your great loss (and mine too).

Vivian was simply loved by everyone who came in contact with him. As you say, he was absolutely fearless - not rash in any way, but very cool and deliberate. All the men simply worshipped Vivian - in fact he was just a favourite with us all. I can tell you, DIck, it was a bitter blow to me for I loved him as a brother.

Ask me anything you like, and I will do all I can.

With kindest regards and my deepest sympathy in you great loss (and mine too).

Believe me,
Your affect: Nephew
Dick.
